  • Label: lapdragon
  • Label Type: indie
  • About:
Music is war. This is the output of a stubborn sea-goat that endlessly claws away at the cultural norms that make life suck. Chuck Rees’ internal explorations result in ambitious, melodic popular song with a sometimes quirky edge. Here, danceable co-exists with meaningful.

Chuck believes that the best ideas in music come without the aid of a musical instrument in the mind's ear. The first sparks of inspiration usually start with the melody. The next sparks turn melodies into words; followed by meticulous musical and lyrical craft, arrangement and perspiration.

We are born into a world of predefined roles and duty. Once we take on a role, something slowly dies inside of us. We become so entwined in a web of necessity that we fail to discover our true purpose. Mannequins Breathe serves as an archetype to remind us that our bounds are often self-imposed and may be removed if we diligently look inside ourselves for another way.
